Fethard (Irish: Fiodh Ard, meaning "High Wood") is one of the most important medieval walled towns in Ireland.
Close to many popular tourist attractions of South Tipperary, such as the Rock of Cashel, Cahir Castle, Swiss Cottage and also the town of Clonmel, Fethard itself has much to offer.
Fethard Town Walls
As well as the town walls, Fethard's medieval attractions inculde the 12th century Augustinian Church and the Sheela na gig. You can also visit the popular Folk, Farm and Transport Museum.
Fethard has a number of pubs and restaurants, including the well known McCarthy's, where you might see some famous faces. Entertainment and music can be found in pubs at the weekends.
